By Oliver Leopold I got the Rode VideoMic Go for the holidays; it was a love hate relationship at first sight. It was an amazing microphone- but there was a ton of hissing in the background. True, I could fix that in post, but it completely ruined the sound (put a weird filter on it).
That said, it was one of the most amazing things in the world to have a microphone and not have to recharge the battery. But, though it was a shotgun, it only worked well if it was very close to the subject.
Overall, I would recommend this microphone to starters in “YouTubeing”, video production, and filmmaking. I would recommend the Rode VideoMic Pro for people looking to step up their game.
